Wanstead Flats has a small starring role in Wayfinders, a new exhibition at the Turner Contemporary gallery in Margate.

For his first major solo show, British-Ghanaian artist Larry Achiampong – whose work mixes pop art-y sculpture with the spoken word and the moving image – filmed on the Flats, in the aftermath of the 2019 brush fires that destroyed the vegetation, its charred remains looking like a lunar landscape.
Achiampong’s footage features in a video installation entitled Relic 3, about a migrant ‘spacewoman’ who struggles to make a life in a hostile environment.
Continues until June 19. Free entry.
