Friends of Wanstead Park Privacy Statement


This Privacy Statement sets out how The Friends of Wanstead Parklands (FWP) will comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the use and protection of any information that you provide when you use the Friends website, and of the Data which The Friends hold. This policy is effective from 25th May 2018.

The FWP is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should the website request you provide certain information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

This statement may change depending on any future update of the relevant Law at which stage we will inform you.

Why we collect this information:

Our purpose is simple: to use the data as a basis to provide you with information relating to the activities of The FWP.

What Personal Data do we use:

We collect the following information:

  • your name
  • your email address
  • your address and postcode

What we do with this information:

Your details are held on a bespoke FWP database.
Data from this is formulated into distribution lists within a Mailchimp Automation Platform for use in circulating emails and attachments relation to the activities of The FWP.

We may also use your postcode information to help with data analysis.


Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure.
In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Additionally, the service providers we use have safeguards in place that comply with the General Data Protection Act:

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required to by law.

Controlling your personal information:

You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information in the following ways:

  • There is no charge for making a request or for the electronic data file, but if the number and frequency of requests is unreasonable we may charge an admin fee.

    We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.
  • Right to erasure – if you want to remove your personal data from our records, you can request this by contacting us at wansteadpark.org.uk@gmail.com.
    We will remove the data as far as it is practically within our power, and where we are not legally obliged to retain it.
    To be unsubscribed from Mailchimp promotional emails, use the unsubscribe link on the emails themselves.
  • Right to object – if you no longer want us to own or use your data, contact us on wansteadpark.org.uk@gmail.com
  • Rigt to complain – if you are unhappy with how we are managing your personal data, you can lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority, The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
