Many Friends of Wanstead Parklands will be aware by now that, for the past three and a half years, Dr Hannah Armstrong has been writing what will surely become the definitive book on the history of Wanstead House.

Due to be published by Liverpool University Press on behalf of Historic England in March 2022, ‘Wanstead House: East London’s Lost Palace’ will cover the history of the park, the house and its owners in unprecedented detail.

The cost of producing the book will be financed mainly through pre-orders placed via the Liverpool University Press website and, in order to ensure the success of the venture, anyone placing a pre-order will be able to benefit from a substantial pre-publication discount of 40%. After publication in March 2022, the book’s Recommended Retail Price will be £45 but pre-orders placed through the publisher’s website will be reduced in price to only £27 (plus £4.50 postage and packaging).

‘Wanstead House: East London’s Lost Palace’ will fascinate anyone who enjoys visiting Wanstead Park, or who has an interest in the history of the magnificent classical mansion that stood at its heart or who wants to learn more about the lives of the people who lived there.

The book will be published in hardback with dimensions of 276x219mm, 224 pages and over 80 illustrations.
