A Special General meeting of the Friends of Wanstead Parklands is to be held at 6:30pm on Saturday 10 October, immediately prior to the Gala Dinner at Wanstead and Snaresbrook Cricket Club.
The object of the meeting will be to adopt a new consitution for the Friends which will pave the way for us to apply for Registered Charity status. This in turn will unlock sources of grant aid from the Heritage Lottery Fund and other sources, allowing us to contribute more actively to securing Wanstead Park’s future.
The agenda for the Special General Meeting, of which formal notice is hereby given, is as follows –
- Chairman’s opening remarks.
- Questions from the floor.
- To vote on the motion “This meeting endorses the Committee’s objective to apply for charitable status and, to that end, adopts the new constitution which has been circulated in advance of this meeting”.
- Signing of the new constitution by the Chairman.

The meeting is expected to be very brief, and those who make the effort to attend will be welcome to stay for drinks until guests for the gala dinner take their seats at 7:30pm.
