    Last weekend (20-22 April 2019) saw a bumper number of visitors to Wanstead Park. By happy coincidence three things came together: the late Easter holiday, the best weather of the year so far – and the peak of the park’s greatest annual spectacle, the bluebell season.

    The Friends AGM took place during the evening of 11th March at Wanstead Golf Club. Although attendance was low, probably due to the Covid-19 situation, those who braved the chill weather were treated to an evening of interesting presentations.

    The Friends of Wanstead Parklands (FWP) last week held their annual general meeting (13 March 2019). About 40 members and supporters braved a rather cold evening, and were rewarded by presentations from Colin Buttery, the City of London’s Director of Open Spaces, and Nicholas Munday, the newest of Epping Forest’s four Verderers.

  • Plans afoot for Wanstead’s historic Grotto

    The City of London Corporation recently appointed Alan Baxter Ltd to produce a Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for the Grotto at Wanstead Park. Two stakeholder meetings have so far been held, in January and March.
